My awesome friends drove all night to spend New Years with Luis and I. They arrived at 8 am on New Years Eve and even though I had to work until 10:30 pm it didn’t stop us from ringing in the New Year together.
But, to tell you the truth.. I was so busy cooking and everyone else busy with talking and watching foreign television shows, we almost missed the clock striking midnight. Luckily I just happened to look at the clock to time my mussels and it was 11:59!
We didn’t have any noise makers, or a sing along, or crazy hugging and kissing. Just simple cheers of “happy new years!” to one another.
And then… we had a feast. Which I didn’t take any pictures of all of us gathered around the table… I suck!
Only this one picture of Fabian finishing up the mussels that were cooked in fish stock, heavy cream, garlic, saffron, and tomatoes.
I made chicken scallopine with small potatoes.
Our appetizer of olives, pickles, chips, cheese, and tiny bits of chocolate (it goes great with red wines).
Shortly after this photo, I knocked one of the bowls down and it broke.. very sad about ruining my serving piece.
Raspberry Mojitos
Dani’s awesome mixed drink that she made me, but forgot the name we gave it.. angry something… ?
Lastly, nothing says winter like Peppermint Bark.
(Something that made me smile was finding little pieces of peppermint in someone’s bed.. guess the person really liked them)
Here is what our little place looked like filled with love, luggage, and air beds =)
Now, our little place is feeling very empty… wishing for clutter.
